3.  All participants must commit to completing at least 20 hours of online training, and attending all scheduled in-home parent coaching sessions (except in the case of an emergency).
SIMILAR SERVICES WILL BE OFFERED IN BOTH ENGLISH AND FRENCH, AND SIMILAR SERVICES WILL ALSO BE OFFERED FOR THE 0-6 AGE GROUP.

What does this project involve ?

This project involves two MAIN components

1.   Online training:   Candidates selected for this part of the project will be able to access a three-month on-line subscription to Autism Training Solutions (www.autismtrainingsolutions.com)
Autism Training Solutions is the online education company dedicated to training professionals and paraprofessionals within the field of autism and related behavioural disabilities.  The training consists of interactive videos with online workshops and assessments – and all material presented is based on the principles of applied behaviour analysis (ABA).  Topics include (but are not limited to):  reinforcement, behaviour reduction, antecedent and consequent intervention, teaching new behaviours, and functions of behaviour.
Participants will be required to complete 20 hours of on-line training (which is available 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week) over a three-month period.  Participants must complete at least 10 hours of online training prior to the scheduling of the first home visit (see below).  The material can be reviewed multiple times, if necessary.  A senior staff member from Spectrum Intervention Group will be able to oversee the training and answer any questions that arise.

2.  In-home parent coaching:  One target problem from the communication, behaviour, self-care, or social skills domain will be selected as the focus of the coaching.  A senior therapist from Spectrum Intervention Group will schedule four visits of 1.5 hours each with families over a three-month period.  Intervention strategies will be discussed and modelled with parents, and coaching will be provided as parents implement the strategies with their child.

What is the cost of the project?
